About Emily

I believe that every design project must be approached with sensitivity and respect for the conversation it facilitates.

From this perspective, I have done in-house graphic design, art direction, illustration and communications work for these fine folks:

  • Minnesota Orchestra

  • Goldstein Museum of Design

  • UMN College of Education and Human Development

  • Indiana Geological Survey

  • Monroe County Public Library

  • Buskirk-Chumley Theater

and freelance design for clients as diverse as Acara (part of the Institute on the Environment at the University of Minnesota) and the folk band Harpeth Rising.

In 2015 I earned an MFA in Graphic Design and a Product Design Graduate Minor at the University of Minnesota, where I focused on the role that design can play in sustainability. I received my undergraduate degree in Viola Performance and Studio Art from Indiana University.

Emily has a unique talent for turning complicated concepts and hard-to-explain ideas into visually arresting art that draws you in and makes you want to find out more. More than just promotional art, the posters she created for our Inside the Classics series captured all the drama and humor that we hoped to bring to our performances before they were even fully scripted. She is a true collaborator, a supremely gifted designer, and an artist any organization would be lucky to work with.
— Sam Bergman, Minnesota Orchestra Inside the Classics host and violist
